The federal government says it is investing $39.4 million to support Indigenous languages in the territories.

The funding is to go to communities, organizations and governments to reclaim, revitalize, maintain and strengthen the languages.

The First Nation says the funding will help it deliver language and culture classes and camps, as well as develop lesson plans, books, videos and reference documents in the Wiiliideh language. “We feel that the elders are lonely because they've got nobody to talk to in their language, so we're trying to fix that,” he said.Edward Sangris said one hurdle is that Wiiliideh is not one of the N.W.T.'s 11 official languages, nine of which are Indigenous.

Giving them money is not going to help them long term. We've been there done that.

Isn't that what private schools are for? woof

The only word that matters to lndians is whiskey .

They need food not to be used for clout. Update the airstrips. Eliminate the Monopoly airlines like Canadian north have.

If you want to prop up a language nobody speaks, pay for it yourself

They cant even honour their promise of fresh water so this is just a sick joke meant to harness their votes!! Indigenous are not that naive!!!

So is this payment for living on 'stolen land'? Or are we going to have to continue wiping their asses forever?

Woman searching for late father's jacket that was donated to Ottawa Value VillageA former Ottawa resident is appealing for help tracking down her late father's ski jacket, after it was accidentally donated to a Value Village in Ottawa the day he passed away. Seriously? She wants a 40-year-old ski jacket? Maybe she knows his life savings were sewn into the jacket liner. Slow news day CTV? I would have thought a homeless person would appreciate it more?🤨
