Targeted public health responses can curb the rise in COVID\u002D19 cases without shutting down entire communities

has warned of a “socioeconomic crisis” affecting children through physical-distancing control measures. Across the country many thousands of small businesses have closed permanently, while others are hanging on by a thread.Article content continuedSince the beginning of the pandemic we have emphasized three Cs: a consistent approach to dealing with the virus, clarity around public health guidelines, and compliance with those rules to keep the virus in check.

Public health agencies should be more transparent about where outbreaks are occurring in communities to help inform the general public. Do today’s numbers represent new outbreaks or existing ones? Is the source of infection known or unknown? How efficiently is contact-tracing taking place? Who is getting infected and where? What can we learn from these outbreaks?

Went to several stores incl. Costco and there’s no TP anywhere! Are we really doing this again? Our provincial and federal governments need to stop serve kool-aid and we ALL need to ween off it

If the data calls for the lock down. You lock down. This headline is suggesting they’re mutually exclusive. THEY ARE NOT!

They should take lessons from Dr. Deena Hinshaw in Alberta who has tested 233,000 asymptomatic Albertans & found those with no symptoms & no known contact are not responsible for spread & rising cases 's. By ruling this group out testing can focus elsewhere & limit restrictions.

What is the chance of getting breast cancer vs. what is the risk of getting breast cancer give you are male are different questions. Asking what is the chance of dying from covid on its own is misleading. We need all data and frame proper Bayesian questions.

What we need is a trusted media to deliver us the facts, only facts we get are from government departments, health vs click-bait and sensationalism, you choose

Science is clear on this you just don’t like the science. A second lockdown will happen one of two ways. The government calls one or enough people get sick we have a longer one people do on their own with long term effects that the government cannot end? Your call.

Oh yeah, I'm going to take an opinion on disease from a guy running the Business Council of Canada. He's not putting people's needs first I can tell you that much. Better plan, lock things down and await a working vaccine and ensure the vulnerable or most exposed are front line.

I’d rather follow science and its recommendations than your opinion. Rest assured that I do understand and have some empathy for like minded. But please consider the average person meets 15-20 people per day(including short duration contact) Now use simple math and common sense.

Herd immunity

If a lockdown is needed.. we do it... and that is data driven.

Probably both, to be honest.

Ontario had more new cases on June 6th then they have on September 21st, yet they are calling it a 'surge'.............

Yeah, it's called let us gain T & B cells and have our body learn to fight it naturally.

One billion percent!!!!!!!! End all lockdowns and get back to work.

Morning Update: Public Health Agency of Canada urged to name scientist as new presidentA former top agency adviser says the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that the department needs a person with a science background at the helm, not an administrator Bonnie Henry. She is trusted by everyone in Canada. Damn paywall. You know, right leaning (most) are all free. Hate groups and pages are all free. Left leaning, progressive and information useful to the public good? Always behind a paywall. Really sucks. But the Gov't would appoint a scientist with no training in Public health. They would hire a geographer or the likes.

Let’s not give up on the notion of progress amidst the COVID-19 pandemicThe strides of the past show the possibilities of the future, despite the COVID-19 pandemic The idea of progress is highly subjective . What has been touted as progress in the past has lead, in many cases, to the decline in personal and societal morals and values that has resulted in the fragmented societies that we now see across the western world. Progress is overrated. Progressivism is a cult
