We must not forget jailed Iranian journalists who were committed to the truth. The courage of Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi serves as a reminder of both the power of the press and the fragility of its freedom. Opinion by shephardm

Languishing in an Iranian prison are two young journalists, whose only crime was to report the truth.

If the women are convicted of the bogus charges — which include allegations of spying for the CIA, the Saudis, Britain’s MI6 and Israel’s Mossad — they could be sentenced to death. Other protesters have already been executed and it’s estimated that since the uprising began, more than 16,000 demonstrators are now in prison.

“What kind of job is this? A job which has no money and no security and doesn’t particularly benefit you?” she asked. “And yet, we take a stand. We will keep on.”

ANALYSIS | There's no end in sight to the conflict between Iranian protesters and the regime | CBC NewsAfter four months of protests throughout Iran, there has been no loosening of the country's strict Islamic edicts, and certainly not the complete regime change many have called for. Opinion: Ontario does not need more for-profit surgeryPremier Doug Ford’s government is making a big mistake in moving more surgeries to for-profit providers, instead of creating new community surgery centres overseen by public hospitals Always fd up BS drama reporting. Meanwhile things just might start happening. Not starting by much but better than the current shit show. I imagine someone on a long waiting list for cataract surgery would disagree… I completely and whole heartedly disagree. We need options. Our system is abysmal.
