Opinion: In the spirit of t’shuva, the church should make reparations to the Indigenous communities of Canada in the same manner that Germany has continued to provide reparations to Holocaust survivors and in some cases even their descendants.

occasion; the leader of Germany standing where Jewish resistance to the unfolding genocide of the Jews of Europe held off the Nazi murderers in a doomed but heroic struggle that lasted for almost a month.to the fighters of the ghetto. In so doing, he knelt also in the presence of the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis., was a small but important step in Germany’s reckoning with its past.

No one can tell a member of the Indigenous community how they should respond. Our own community’s experience with the lived and inherited trauma of the Shoah, or Holocaust, teaches us humility in this regard. But we know that apologies can have value and can lead to healing, if they are sincere and are more than words., or the act of seeking repentance.

Nah, it's a whole lot easier getting it out of the tax payer, they don't have a whole lotta choice about paying taxes and virtually no say about how it's spent.

How many times do we have to tell the media in Canada to cease and desist with the genocide by linguistics? Typing slowly: We are not 'yours'. We do not belong to Canada. Stop using possessives when writing about us. Just stop.

Any living perpetrators should be locked in prison. The church has apologized. Nothing more should be done. Life sucks sometimes. Get over it and move on, or it will destroy you.

Monetizing moral outrage is now an industry. I'm going to start a mutual fund featuring the top ten injustices known to mankind, and for all of us who are racist and don't know it, we could purchase a certificate of moral outrage for each $10,000 purchase to show our friends.

No.

BS. The Canadian government should pay reparations. It was their schools!

When the reparations from Islam ?

Why Pope Francis may be hesitant to rescind the Doctrine of Discovery | CBC NewsOn May 4, 1493, Pope Alexander VI issued the papal bull known as 'Inter Caetera' that provided Portugal and Spain the religious backing to expand their territories in Africa and the Americas for the sake of spreading Christianity. If it isn't one thing, it's something else. You give an inch, they demand a mile. It never ends. Oh really? So the reason he won’t renounce it is because it’s been renounced and would be redundant to say it? Then what’s the problem in saying it to help people heal? Nah. They don’t want to admit institutional responsibility, because it opens the door dto legal claims against the institutions, who continue alive as legal person long after human perpetrators are dead. However, there is huge value in acknowledging the facts. Because deniers.
