The Toronto Maple Leafs should have named Matt Murray their No. 1 goalie from the start. With Murray coming off a couple of down years in Ottawa, Kyle Dubas and the Leafs missed a great opportunity to truly wipe his slate clean. Opinion by RealKyper

that was trying to earn some credibility, a guy like Murray could buy into that competitive narrative. But with a Stanley Cup contender like Toronto, the No. 1 netminder should be crystal clear entering training camp.

By not anointing the 28-year-old Murray the top ’tender, management missed a great opportunity to truly wipe his slate clean after a rough couple of years with theI hear some in Leafs Nation arguing he doesn’t deserve No. 1 status based on his recent play.
