Opinion: If the Pope is interested in forgiveness, then it should have been on him to request a time where he could, with lowered shoulders, be given an opportunity to plead for it.

My life was forever changed when the enormous cruelty of a person of my long-ago past left me emotionally and spiritually wounded.

I, as the person who suffered at the hands of the guilty party, would expect to hear — in detail — why the person did what they did to alter so severely my human right to emotional and spiritual wellness. No one escapes justice! Not me, not you, not the Pope, nor any other human being gets away with doing wrong, nor will any house of worship guilty of crimes against humanity escape justice after Creator's historical review takes place. The Indigenous people in Canada who suffered so greatly at residential schools have not waited for the Pope to come to their door. Instead, they have gone to his house, asking to receive an apology for the wrongs of the past.

Opinion reeks of negativity! Move on. Pope has many places to visit & people to see! He is head of an over 1800 year old Institution and he is not your typical Pope! Residential Schools is a complicated disaster! Give Pope a chance! Pope apologized & will visit Canada! Enough!

The Pope needs to ask for the actions of the Catholic Church to be forgiven on his own accord. Having the First Nations go to him and shame him into asking for forgiveness comes with a half hearted apology. Then requesting him visit Canada at our expense, is not worth it.

And the Vatican should pay for that visit too, I sure don't care about his visit!

Just like CBC to push Trudeau's agenda. Apologies from the Catholic Church have been going on since 1991. Pope Benedict apologized in 2009. Will Justin apologize his father, who was PM during part of this time. Jean Chretien, Indian Affairs in '68.

Nice colorful display. Instead of forgiveness which will never be satisfactory, you should instead celebrate survival and a new life as a potentially productive Canadian citizen.

Also in his speech, the pope didn't say he was sorry to indigenous people, only to his god.

people complained that the church wouldn't apologize. They apologized, and now people still complain. Y'all are worse than my wife

An apology given when asked for is meaningless. It must be spontaneous, from the heart and caused by genuine remorse & contrition to have any meaning. The RC Church is only remorseful for having got caught and having to pay out reparations.

He apologized, Canada has apologized, we all apologized, its still not good enough. Do they even know what they really want anymore?

The Pope aught to make the speeches at the village of Glem Meyer,Ontario.Give em a Conqiest Hypothesis.

Uhhh, no. For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.

Insane person: the pope needs to beg for my mercy

What an absolutely ignorant 'hate the Catholic faith' piece. Canadian Bishops did apologize. Not enough, so the Pope gave time to listen and also apologized. Move on. Reconciliation is 'I am hurt, and could you say sorry' plus 'thank you for apologizing, I accept it' cdnpoli

Catholicism is a religion, it's not Christianity, the pope is a false so called profit that profits from sins of the sinners, Jesus is the way, not pope Francis.

They went to the Vatican to BEG for an apology!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬✊🏾

The Pope is the biggest leader of a useless Dog and Pony Show
