BREAKING: Ontario reports 477 new cases of COVID-19, the highest number in nearly a week

The Ministry of Health says that there were 477 new cases confirmed on Thursday as well as 63 more deaths in people who had contracted the virus.

“Based on our framework, based on our robust health and safety guidelines, it is clear that right now there are certain businesses and workplaces that can operate safely,” Premier Doug Ford said last week. "That means they can physically distance their staff and customers, they can put in physical barriers, they can provide contact-free services, or they work outside and are isolated."

The 477 new cases confirmed on Friday translate into a positive rate of about 2.9 per cent on the more than 16,000 tests conducted. That’s up marginally from a positive rate of around 2.6 per cent on about 1,000 thousand fewer tests one day prior but is down from May 6 when there were 412 confirmed cases on just under 13,000 tests.Encouragingly, the number of people taking up hospital beds is also holding relatively steady.

Long-term care homes continue to be on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19, accounting for more than three-quarters of all deaths

Yes you know all those flights that came in from January with absolutely ZERO screening.. Go talk to the asswipe govt and TamSham

I’ve seen people not distance at all. Someone pushed by me in a grocery store, instead of asking me to step aside.

Masks should be mandatory; 6ft apart as much as possible in crowds, wash hands often, and ALL get tested frequently.

CP, July will be for sure the second wave of the corona. The UK are living the second wave as we speak.

I went to Walmart in Whitby yesterday and was shocked at how many people weren't wearing masks or gloves...I wore both .

50 more cases in South Korea two days ago after having zero case for few days

“I’m shocked, shocked, to find there’s gambling going on in here!”

Well Trudeau and Ford have been going to their cottages!!!

More fines need to be handed out. Cops are doing a shitty job enforcing this law.

More testing, more positives, but how many lead to hospitalizations?

Make masks mandatory! No one is observing social distancing and frankly it’s an alien concept to most.

With all the eager beavers wanting out...out...out, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. I see so much ignorance with people walking around without protective gear everywhere I go cause you know....it's not a killer virus and all. Fake news? Oh wait, wrong country.

Until the province does consistently the same amount of tests daily... headlines like this are almost fear mongering

Why are canadians so dumb compared to Americans nowadays?
