Ontario records more than 400 new cases of COVID-19 for third straight day

The province recorded 412 new cases and 27 more deaths related to the novel coronavirus Saturday morning, marking a 1.7 per cent increase over the day prior. The number of new cases is down slightly over Friday’s report when the province confirmed 441 new infections —the highest daily increase in new cases since May 8 — a jump Ontario Premier Doug Ford called "And while the five-day rolling average of new cases has continued to increase since May 12, the number of tests performed in Ontario has fallen short of its testing capacity for the sixth consecutive day.

According to the Ministry of Health, the province performed 11,028 in the last 24 hour period, a far cry from the government’s goal to complete tests 16,000 daily. The province has previously said that it has the capacity to conduct at least 20,000 tests a day.” if testing numbers continue to fall below what is expected.The number of resolved COVID-19 cases however continues to outweigh active cases in the province at 19,146 recoveries or 76.5 per cent.

Not surprised. Approximately 14 days ago we had a really warm day where lots of people went out, parks & sidewalks full, no social distancing, few masks. Numbers will continue to rise. Health officials must also track look back 14 days to see the reason for spike.

It would be helpful to know where recent cases are accelerating (specific cities or towns, healthcare or long term care facilities, types of workplaces, etc,). Perhaps concerned people will let their guard down.

Not good Ontario.....we can’t go four steps backward.....please be deligent and follow the rules.....distancing 6 feet from each other...wear a mask when you can’t distance and wash your hands frequently.....

If they had proper testing those numbers would be sustantially more.

Meanwhile in BC, they have fewer new cases than we have deaths.

The funny thing is we close everything down, hide everyone from existence as best we can, then while we slowly open things up the numbers spike and everyone thinks it shouldnt be happening. People who actually think that are dumb. That is the whole process toward herd immunity.
