The new guidelines focus on the province’s “vulnerable populations,” such as long-term care residents, health care workers and indigenous communities.Further testing guidelines for all Ontarians will be released by the province on Friday. The new guidance comes after Premier Doug Ford slammed Ontario’s low coronavirus testing rate as “unacceptable,” and directed his top health officials to immediately start testing more people to reach Ontario’s capacity of 13,000 tests a day.
Common symptoms of the virus are fever, cough, shortness of breath or pneumonia. The atypical symptoms, listed in the document, include fatigue, delirium, chills, stomach problems and headaches. It does not say that health-care workers who are asymptomatic should be tested, and in fact the document says testing of asymptomatic patients or staff is “generally not recommended.”
Who is going to agree to their loved one being admitted to any LTC at this time not
The federal government has not considered asymptotic spread in the modelling they quickly did after the provinces “UPSTAGED” them, and has NO CLUE how far it’s SPREAD because we don’t have enough TESTS...INCOMPETENCE KILLS!!!!!
Safe safe is the best part of that sign.
Could you ask the Ont government this question: As Ontario is not even using it's available testing capacity as acknowledged by the Premier yesterday, why isn't a plan executed to test all long-term / retirement centre staff, residents, and all front line medical personnel - asap
All the long term care workers should be tested as well.
Why not test everyone with symptoms ?
A 'no-brainer', why is there even any question of this and why is it not a national requirement.
Finally. I expected this to happen once the tragedy in Bobcaygeon was reported a week ago
And new residents be put into quarantine (infection control protocols put in place) until results return. Didn't think they could admit into a home new residents if there was an outbreak present in that home and that should be followed to the letter.

This is overdue but still not close to what is required. All long-term care residents & staff, symptomatic or not, need to be tested. Repeatedly. You can’t save those who you cannot identify.
