Food banks are seeing record usage and housing costs are up 7.4 per cent.” The NDP say that OW recipients have not received an increase in payments and receive about $733 a month. “The rates for ODSP were too low to begin with,” she said. “Clients have not gotten an increase for the past four years.”

$95.21 is a bit much, I guess the actual amount would be maybe too much for them, it's something. In highschool we did some sort of fast for starvation in third world countries, and if we got hungry she said we could eat white rice. This kind of reminds me of that.

Toothpaste is expensive; a necessity. Ford should not be allowed as a politician to give himself and his cronies, staff 16 1/2% salary increase, any increase as it is tax payer/sales tax money. Another system needs to be put in place as to how politicians get raises. Nurses 1%.

If they truly want to know what it's like to be on a tight budget.. 2 weeks isn't enough. Try a full year. I can make pasta for 2 weeks. Cheap to do. But it takes a toll on your body. I hate it when rich people live like poor for a week or 2 and all of a sudden, they're experts..

This is a reality to the majority of our staff at A-Way Express who are people with lived experience of mental health care and are only able to work enough hours to avoid getting their ODSP clawed back. Our weekly food pantry helps, but it isn't enough.
Two weeks is not enough. Multiple months please, find a safe, healthy place to live without room mates, pay heat and hydro, run your vehicle (gas, insurance, maintenance, repairs). Buy healthy food (usually with allergies + specific dietary needs), clothing, and hygiene products.
All MPPs should live on only social assistance rates for at least the 1st 3 months after an election. That includes finding a new place to live. No fam/friends helping. Only 2nd hand furniture, clothes kitchenware, etc, to mimic years of ODSP poverty. With food allergies too.
The idea is good but I'm sure it will help that they are still living in their million dollar homes
I don't even have that much left over to spend on anything. And as a student, transportation, food and clean clothes r important. Been trying to get support only to be judged, put in a group to harass me and my anxiety as well as my severe scoliosis, and be told asking is wrong.

After paying for shelter I am surprised they have that much to spare. In reality most ODSP recipients are broke before the end of week one.
What about new socks, underwear, a T-shirt? Simple human necessities ODSP recipients are punished with when they must choose between food and clothing. Shelter an entirely different evil.
