Ontario Liberal candidate withdraws, party three short of a full slate

Leader Steven Del Duca says Audrey Festeryga has withdrawn her candidacy in Chatham-Kent-Leamington and will no longer appear on the ballot for the Liberals.

The development means there are now three ridings in which the Liberals aren't running a candidate for the June 2 provincial election. Festeryga had stepped in after the party dropped a previous candidate in the riding who had used a homophobic slur on social media when he was a tween. But Festeryga's candidacy was also called into question by the New Democrats, who have alleged that she was fraudulently registered with signatures gathered in support of the dropped candidate.

Del Duca refused to comment on the validity of the fraud accusations but instead accused the NDP of “attacking” Festeryga, which he says drove her to withdraw from the race.

If you read the article, literally his defence for them fraudulently using signatures is “you can’t attack her, she’s a woman”. Literally that’s his argument…

I would never make it as a candidate. I've inhaled, snorted, probably used the N word but don't remember, have definitely used the British slang word for ciggies plus all sorts of other unflattering names. I would admit it all too as there is no sense in lying about it.

Their first candidate got dropped. Now the ontario_liberal can't even escape scandal when selecting a second candidate. Allegedly forging signatures. Does this surprise me. Not one bit.

I feel so bad for the early Liberal voters… NOT! Lol… Nolips Wynne 2.0 couldn’t escape the Wynne era track record. Maybe next time be like Charest and try your luck at the CPC or go NDP since Jagmeet is also a Liberal.
