NDP, Green Party demand probes of whether large landowners got advance notice of windfall

Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steve Clark would not say whether he tipped off developers before announcing plans to break previous promises and allow housing on parts of the province’s protected Greenbelt – plans expected to make the affected properties skyrocket in value.

“I’m the Housing Minister,” Mr. Clark said. “I meet with a variety of people on housing all the time.” “I asked the minister three very, very simple questions, where there was a simple yes-or-no answer; the minister just seemed incapable of responding,” Ms. Bell told reporters. “That surprises me. Ontarians want to know: Did you talk to developers first before opening up this precious Greenbelt land and this farmland to development?”

asking him to look into whether Mr. Clark or Mr. Ford broke the rules that govern MPPs and bar making decisions to further private interests or sharing insider information. Mr. Schreiner said he has also asked the integrity commissioner to probe if any lobbying by individuals not registered on the province’s lobbyist registry took place.

Ontario Green Party asks integrity commissioner to investigate Greenbelt developmentThe Ontario Green Party has asked the integrity commissioner to investigate whether the premier or housing minister tipped off developers about their plans to open up the Greenbelt. I wonder why mike never took the leap to the federal Green Party. Fuq off. 90% of Ontario is uninhabited bush. We will build homes where all the jobs and people are. Greenbelt is a scam to artificially increase the prices of already-built homes. Spend your energy investigating the destruction of historic buildings to build more ugly condos Probably a heavily leveraged multiple home owner

Of course he did. Dont y'all know how business works, especially when there is HUGE money involved? There is a secret bank acct in the Cayman Islands for 'Mr Timbit' which he'll be able to access down the road This is how it works in all business Only the naive think otherwise Seems to me that should be an easy and obvious 'Yes' Of course he did. We all know it. Wouldn’t expect anything less from him.

Ontario passes housing bill despite criticism from municipalities over fundingThe Ontario government has passed housing legislation that overrides some municipal zoning laws and eliminates some development fees in an effort to follow through on the province’s goal of building 1.5 million homes. And will cost taxpayers billions in lost development fees that are used for building roads, sewers, and infrastructure for those homes...but Dough Fraud is 'for the people' right? Canada has opened its doors over the coming years to literal millions of skilled migrants yet they are only just “sorting out the housing” it’s no wonder there a shortage across the province of ON and nationwide.
