“The truth of the matter is I wouldn’t have pursued other opportunities had it not been for what’s going on.” Total physician compensation remains flat at $5.4-billion in the government’s 2020-21 budget, but a new funding framework changes how doctors are paid. “We do not expect shortages overall or in any specific community, apart from the normal staffing challenges in smaller centres,” Buick said.
“There will be a lot of movement,” said Potter, who noted many who are leaving did their medical training in Alberta. “I really worry there will be a bit of brain drain.”

Damn UCP just causing nothing but bad energy in this province. Always making bad decisions that just make people miserable. Giving handouts to oil and gas and then watching them cut jobs like Suncor did today.
Bye 👋 bye 👋 AmyTam ! Pack your UHaul, grab that snickers, turn up Fergie’s Big Girls Don’t Cry and hit the blacktop. See ya 👋 ! Just like JillianRatti - whining snivelling albertadoc that denies it’s not about the money. Right. abpoli ableg AHS
Imagine if Globe and Mail did real journalism: Some of us have been fighting NDP corruption of AHS & AMA Albertadoctors in Court for 5 years & Alberta taxpayers paid millions of dollars in legal fees I was in Court two dozen times Never saw in Court. Not ONCE.
Still waiting for Globe and Mail to cover the landmark historic Court Decisions that exposed NDP corruption of our healthcare Institutions, including Dr.Robert Nordal's Court Victory 2020 ABQB 333 where NDP & AHS destroyed his Cancer practice at Tom Baker & destroyed his family
Well done tylershandro
RGabruch “We don’t see an Alberta that matches our values – one that values public health care and education, vulnerable populations,” he said. “We’ve stopped seeing it as a place with an economic or moral future when we think of raising a family.”
AmyTanMD. I don’t think it’s about how much fight you had left. You’re undeniably a fighter. It’s about how long you can tolerate staying in an abusive relationship before it impacts the health of you, your family and the patients you serve. Never doubt your strength and resolve
Hope they come to Ontario. Thanks to Mike the Knife Harris (also Ford) we still are not back where we were before he took the knife to everything good the good ppl built for decades. Health care was hit the worse, then education etc.
Alberta bad. West bad. Orange man bad. We get it.
Tired of being the best paid doctors in Canada?
Drs are now starting to feel the rest of AB's pain. Poor pumpkins can't hack it.🙄 I had 20% pay cut so I work more than FT. My husband lost his career so his pay reduction is ~60% at a low paying job. Sorry, I don't want to pay more taxes to maintain the public sector's pay.
