TORONTO -- Some pregnant Canadians aren’t able to get fully vaccinated before their due date because of the extended interval between doses.
And from those she knows who have had a second dose, it was often accompanied by fever and fatigue and she doesn’t want to risk being rundown while in labour.“There's been a lot of confusion and the bottom line is that women who are pregnant or planning to conceive should get the COVID-19 vaccine,” Dr. Caitlin Dunne, partner and co-director with Pacific Centre for Reproductive Medicine, told CTVNews.ca in a Zoom interview on Friday.
With more provinces adding pregnant people to their high priority lists for the vaccine, some Canadians are just getting the opportunity to receive their first shot in their last few weeks of pregnancy. “We know that pregnant women are at higher risk of complications from COVID-19 than women of the same age who are not pregnant,” she said. “If you look at the data right now we see that about five to 10 per cent of pregnant women who get COVID-19 will require hospitalization and two to four per cent may require admission to the ICU. Those are very serious complications.”
And after giving birth, the only way to pass antibodies on to the baby is through breast feeding, which isn’t always an option for every parent.

Off course full of minerals & Vitamins vaxx. 😍
No kidding. You know what’s better than better than nothing? The proper number of doses. TrudeauVaccineFailure
If Trudeau secured vaccines originally, these 'one shot' excuses would not be happening.
Many pregnant women have contacted Covid. This dose is a good thing
Next on obvious news ...
you guys posted this an hr ago, had 32 negative comments, so you post it again? lol
My spouse follows all safety measures. Hasn't been around family/friends in months. Last week, he had an appt w/ massage therapist who had just been vaccinated. 2 days later he has COVID. So sick! Vaccinated people, isolate for 14 days after vaccination! You're making others ill!
IF that's what the experts say.
Well, I am tired of the experts suggesting that we all role the dice and the odds are in our favour. That is not acceptable in my life, what about the rest of you? I was one of the 99% who survied, I like those odds! Keep the shot.
Thay is a good thing. Might mean we could all just need one.
“don’t have cured meats, soft eggs, rare steak, sushi, marijuana, unpasteurized dairy, fresh fruit juice, pâté, sprouts, radish, oysters, caffeine” OR YOURE A HORRIBLE MOTHER but yo instead of isolation take this shot we made that makes half the people violently ill who take it.
That may be true, but as with the elderly, pregnant women should be getting a 2nd dose within the recommended timeline set out by the vaccine manufacturer.
' Expert' gives us a break.
Fascinating news you can't live without.
Thanks captain obvious!
Brilliant insight, who would’ve thought?
