Nova Scotia has reported five deaths related to COVID-19 and nearly 600 new cases. according to the Thursday update of the Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard.

There were 45 hospital admissions and 599 new lab-confirmed cases in that period, according to the Thursday update of the Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard.The latest deaths bring the total to 706 during the pandemic, including 594 since the Omicron waves began in December 2021.Admitted for COVID-19: 40 - Nova Scotia Health DepartmentThe number of health-care-sector absences related to COVID-19 also dropped this week.

There are 48 IWK Health Centre workers off, including 37 who have tested positive and 11 who are isolating.At Nova Scotia Health, 159 workers are off because they tested positive for COVID-19, were awaiting test results or were exposed to a member of their household who tested positive. That’s down from 177 last week.
