Nova Scotia is spending $28.9 million in programs and initiatives across the provincial continuing care system. Unsplash stock photoHALIFAX, N.S. — Nova Scotia has announced a $28.9 million cash injection into the provincial continuing care system.

The funding will also be used to roll out a new pilot program called Capable. The program will partner a nurse, occupational therapist and handyperson to help seniors live independently in their homes. Three teams will be trained to serve about 300 clients over the next year.Janet Simm, president and CEO at Northwood, said that the money will allow home-care providers to be more responsive to their clients.
