'We are not writing ticket violations. We just want everyone to be safe,' Sault Fire Service spokesperson says as door-to-door program kicks off this evening

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services is encouraging the public to test all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their residences at least once a month — and they will even show you how to it.

The program starts this evening with firefighters knocking on doors starting at 6 p.m., and continuing on a Monday to Thursday schedule through the summer, the service said in a news release. “We are not writing ticket violations. We just want everyone to be safe and aware of the protections systems they have or should have in their homes.”
