On Thursday night, the Oilers outplayed Florida for the entire opening period, but couldn’t buy a goal despite outshooting the Panthers 17-7. A couple of hours later, that “success” was but a distant memory, buried in a landslide of Florida goals.
It’s a sad indictment of an organization that has had only one head coach make it through three consecutive seasons since Craig MacTavish, who left in 2009. And the blame lays at the feet of Holland far more than Tippett, having constructed a hockey team without goaltending. This was the classic case of a team that played well enough to be rewarded … but was not, mostly due to a brilliant 40-save performance by Sergei Bobrovsky. Then they caved in, unable to turn momentum back once it was lost.

Spec From the beginning of the McDavid era the GM has always and still is the main person to blame. The signings, trades etc have been putrid. I find comfort knowing McDavid asks for a trade after this season and the Oilers get what they deserve
