The unusual move to promise to play by well-established rules underlines a highly politicized debate over what action is needed to quickly rein in the spread of the deadly disease and to jump-start global business and trade.The head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said last month that the normal approval process may be bypassed for a COVID-19 vaccine as long as officials were convinced the benefits outweigh the risks, prompting a call for caution from the World Health Organisation.
“We want it to be known that also in the current situation we are not willing to compromise safety and efficacy,” said co-signatory Ugur Sahin, the chief executive of Pfizer’s German partner BioNTech. According to the statement, the nine companies pledge to follow established guidance from expert regulatory authorities such as the FDA.Among other hurdles, approval must be based on large, diverse clinical trials with comparative groups that do not receive the vaccine in question. Participants and those working on the trial must not know which group they belong to, according to the pledge.

Why would they need to make a pledge? Isn’t the imperative to uphold testing rigor implicit in the credo of every scientist?
The pharmaceutical conglomerates reputation was in disarray prior to this CoVi D/19 scam. It’s in tatters & shreds now after this exaggerated farce that hi jacked a normal flu outbreak that wasn’t in reality as severe as past years anyway. They’ve basically f*led up big time ☝️
Why would they bother? We can't sue them if their rushed to market, not properly tested vaccine, harms one us. Empty words. Scamdemic
They can pledge all they want....I will take my 99.99% chances on surviving Covid. Me thinks big pharma knows their poisons have been exposed and the gig is up; hence, the beginning of the big PR campaign to gain back trust....
