BREAKING: The NHLPA has declined to reopen the CBA, keeping labour peace in the NHL until 2022.

TORONTO — The NHL Players’ Association has announced it will not re-open the current collective bargaining agreement after the 2019-20 season, avoiding a potential lockout next September.

Allowing the current CBA to run through Sept. 15, 2022, should be viewed as a positive sign as negotiations on an extension continue. The two sides have been talking since February, and Fehr said earlier this month those discussions have been cordial.

NHLPA It’s a smart move by the nhlpa, wait and see the next tv contract. Everyone is getting paid, it’s still a regional sport so I wouldn’t be expecting nba type viewership or tv contracts

Brook emerging as potential third-pair upgrade on Canadiens' blue-line - Sportsnet.caWith the Montreal Canadiens set to play four exhibition games this week, we’re going to find out in a hurry how Josh Brook plays against top end players at this level. And if he impresses as he has at training camp, there's a chance we’ll see him make his NHL debut come October. CanadiensMTL EricEngels He had a very good camp last year and I think they remember that. Great first pass, good vision, and mobile. I still don't think he starts the season, that's Folin's job to lose. CanadiensMTL EricEngels An upgrade on D is exactly what the doctor order for the Habs. Preferably on the left side but if it’s internal, it doesn’t matter. MB can always make a move. CanadiensMTL EricEngels Doesn't surprise me one bit. Watching him live the last few years you could see how smooth he was and the difference between his draft year where I remember saying, meh, to last season was huge. Easy to say now......what a great pick.
