The NHL's document contains details of Phase 2 in its return-to-play plan, including: - Opening practice facilities - Travel to club cities - Symptom checks and testing - More.

of its return-to-play plan as the league and its players continue to figure out if, how, and when the NHL can safely return this summer amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the NHL looking to transition to Phase 2 as soon as next week, it's clear those voluntary sessions will be fairly restricted. Six players max in the team facility at a time and no coaching involvement for on-ice work.Players from other NHL teams will be permitted access to team facilities in an area where they reside, subject to scheduling and staff availability.

Even with this affirmative vote, there are still some details with the 24-team playoff format still to be worked out between the NHL and NHLPA. One of them is whether they'll go ahead with a playoff bracket or use reseeding. The league has been suspended since March 12, and is still in Phase 1 as players remain under league-mandated quarantine.

Other players may also be asked to self-quarantine, regardless of their mode of transportation, upon returning — including those returning from a “high-risk” environment, and those landing in areas whose local authorities continue to impose a quarantine period for any travellers. Players and personnel must also complete symptom and temperature checks in accordance with a standardized self-screening checklist. Daily checks will be self-administered by players and personnel at home prior to departing for club facilities, followed by another check at the entrance of the team’s facility prior to entry .Anyone who develops symptoms must immediately notify his team’s medical staff and self-isolate until a medical evaluation can take place.

On-ice time must be divided equally between all skaters in small groups of no more than six players, though goaltenders may be allowed additional ice time. Goalies are permitted to work with an independent goalie coach on a one-on-one basis, beginning seven days after initially being granted access to club facilities.Coaches and hockey-operations personnel activity:

Seriously, let’s call it a day. See you in the fall ready to rock.

Has it released a plan to refund ticket holders from regular season games that won’t be played? Pretty sure some of the 39 million (and rising) unemployed US citizens could use that money more than the NHL could. NHL

FriedgeHNIC I find it weird that coaches can not be on the ice with the players. I wonder if technology will be introduced. Mic each player and direct from the box? Also, when they score a goal I guess it’s a solo celebration? Looking forward to getting this going!

FriedgeHNIC 🥳🥳🥳🥰🥰🥰🥰

FriedgeHNIC I hated this idea so bad then I heard hall and Oates now I love it

NHL/NHLPA targeting early June for Phase 2 - TSN.caThe National Hockey League and NHLPA sent out the Phase 2 protocol to all teams and players late Sunday, and said they are targeting a date in early June for the transition to Phase 2. Phase 2 would include small group workouts. That’s stupid. At this rate, we might see some actual hockey by the year 2025. NHL This is just a stupid over reaction to a flu+. This wont work. Millions are back to normal lives. Stop playing into the fear. Use facts NHL not fear!

Isolating away from family a 'hot topic' as NHL plots return - Sportsnet.caMinnesota goalie Devan Dubnyk doesn't think players with children would be interested in spending lengthy stretches away from their loved ones amid the pandemic. And neither does Boston's Tuukka Rask, who bluntly said: 'It doesn't feel right to take guys away from their families for many, many months at a time.'' Then don't get paid. It's simple. Reality is, most don't care if you ever come back!! So, stay home and go get a job at Burger King. If any hockey player doesn't want to play I don't think they should be forced too. Let them sit it out. People down at the farm level or maybe in the beer leagues if they want to play should be allowed too though.

Isolating away from family a 'hot topic' as NHL plots returnWhile the NHL and its players' union are discussing a 24-team playoff format to resume the season, figuring out how to incorporate family time in a potential quarantine environment is one of many hurdles to clear. I dont blame them for not wanting to be away from their families. At the same time, if family members are coming and going and one person gets sick, it's going to spread so easily amongst the players and then their families. Nevermind the obvious. Its bad press for the league too I can't see how this is going to work on a number of levels.

Isolating away from family a ‘hot topic’ as NHL plots return - TSN.caIt’s a reality players might have to face for the NHL to resume play, something Toronto’s Kyle Clifford calls a “hot topic” among players. While the NHL and its players’ union are discussing a 24-team playoff format to resume the season, figuring out how to incorporate family time in a potential quarantine environment is one of many hurdles to clear. They either want it or they don’t, the wives are probably pretty excited
