The doctors specialize in areas like family medicine, hematopathology, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, psychiatry, obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery, pathology and orthopedics.
The province says the new recruits join the health authority via the Come Home Incentive, the Physician Signing Bonus, the Family Practice Start-up Program and a recruitment pilot targeting primary care and emergency department coverage in rural areas.
NL Health Services has also recruited 156 internationally educated nurses, now licensed as RNs or LPNs, and over 300 recent nursing graduates who have started working since the end of April. “These recruitment efforts will result in lower wait times for many services, provide much-needed primary care for many areas of our province and ensure we are offering the best care possible to our patients, clients, residents and their families,” said NL Health Services CEO David Diamond.It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
