The 23-year-old registered nine goals and 34 assists for 43 points in 79 games, averaging 21:57 of ice time during the 2022-23 season. Miller added 37 penalty minutes, 162 hits and 105 blocked shots. He ranked third on the Rangers for hits and fourth in blocked shots.
Miller was initially selected No. 22 overall by the Rangers in the 2018 NHL Draft. During his draft year, the 6-foot-5 left-shot defenseman tallied 16 points in 22 games with the USNTDP Juniors in the United States Hockey League ; he added 29 points in 58 games with the U.S. National U18 Team. The following season, he played for the University of Wisconsin Badgers in the NCAA. During his freshman year, he tallied 22 points in 26 games. The following season, he notched 18 points in 36 games.
The St. Paul, Minnesota product made his NHL debut in the 2020-21 season; he scored his first NHL goal on January 26, 2021, against the New Jersey Devils. That season, he notched five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 53 games; he was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team. Miller found more ice time during the 2021-22 campaign and was the only player among all Rangers skaters to appear in all 82 games.
