Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a new $6 billion fund to build water and wastewater infrastructure across the country, but premiers must endorse four units as-of-right if they want a piece of the pie.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau continued his pre-budget announcement circuit on Tuesday, unveiling a new $6 billion housing infrastructure fund meant to accelerate residential construction across the country. Most of the new program will be allocated to provinces and territories through bilateral agreements that must be signed by the end of the year, and the rest of the money will go directly to municipalities. The funding is meant to support investment in water, wastewater, and other infrastructure essential to new home construction.to Trudeau requesting new infrastructure funding to be introduced in the upcoming federal budget, which will be released April 16.
