'A great opportunity': Constable Al Nolan from the Anishinabek Police Service will provide support by answering calls for service in the Sault and Prince Township

For the next three months, an officer from the Anishinabek Police Service will be partnered with a Sault Police coach officer for training.

Starting today, Constable Al Nolan will provide support by answering calls for service in Sault Ste. Marie and Prince Township. Sault Police have hosted seven officers from other police agencies — including the Anishinabek Police Service, Batchewana First Nation Police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police — since 2012.

“This partnership is a great opportunity for our new officer to gain valuable experience answering emergency calls,” said Chief Jeff Skye of the Anishinabek Police Service, in a news release. “We thank the Sault Police for helping us prepare our members for a career in policing.” “The Anishinabek Police is always eager to help us when we reach out for support,” said Inspector Derek Dewar of the Sault Police. “We are happy to play a role in the development of their members and ensure they gain knowledge from an experienced member of the Sault Police. Information sharing and relationship building will help both organizations as we collaborate moving forward.”
