Clean fuel regulations expected to raise gas prices by up to 13 cents by 2030

New federal regulations to force down the greenhouse gas emissions from gasoline and diesel will cost Canadians up to 13 cents more per litre at the pump by 2030.

An impact analysis of the Clean Fuel Regulations published Wednesday estimates they will cut about 18 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions in 2030, or five to six per cent of what Canada needs to eliminate to meet its current targets for that year. It will cost between $22.6 billion and $46.6 billion for refineries and other fuel suppliers to comply, or an average of about $151 per tonne of emissions reduced.

The impact will shave $9 billion off of Canada’s GDP, and hike gasoline prices between six and 13 cents a litre in 2030 when the full scope of the regulations is in effect. The analysis says there will be a disproportionate cost impact on lower-income families, single mothers and seniors, who are more vulnerable to fluctuations in energy costs and are the least likely to be able to afford alternatives like electric vehicles.

$40 billion for Norad, while we struggle to make ends meet.

This is when you know your government does not care about you, when gas prices are already at all time highs and people are already struggling, they add in more tax regulations.. The Liberals wont be in power after the next election, they will be lucky to hold many seats at all.

Because the Liberals care more about the environmental virtue signals than they do about Canadians who are hurt most by their stupidity. Every single person who voted Liberal in the last election should put their hand up and apologize to their fellow Canadians.

And there you have it! The Liberal party figures a way to decline carbon footprint! On the backs of low income Canadians! Congratulations to JustinTrudeau and party!

Maybe focus on the corporate price gouging

In case you need a reminder, Liberals have become the party of Wall St Corporatists. Or does the empty rhetoric make you believe otherwise?

Raises gas prices and emissions .

Any raise in taxes hurt the middle class and low income people the most, always has. Upper income will carry on as usual doing whatever they want for enjoyment, they can afford fun when others struggle to get by. Liberal logic..

Like all environmental regulations, make energy more expensive which punishes the poor
