BREAKING: New Brunswick coroner's jury says 2020 police killing of Rodney Levi was a homicide

The 48-year-old man from the Metepenagiag First Nation was shot dead by RCMP in Sunny Corner, N.B., on June 12, 2020, after officers responded to a complaint about a man with knives at a home.

Jurors are recommending that RCMP officers not be first responders during wellness checks, but should be on standby.

More PoliceBrutality SystemicRacism against my people. Wake up settlers! He was in mental distress-meaning he was agitated, full of anxiety and fear. The police had no business using deadly force. As a clinical counsellor-ppl like me need to be present at these calls. 🪶😡💔

This is an incredibly dumb story. 'Police killing' and 'fatal shooting' already tells us that the killing was a homicide. Homicide simply means that a person was killed by another person. Not that a crime was committed. The circumstances of the homicide are what matters.

What a scathing indictment of a people where detox centers are mandated where you live. IDK what is it with Indians and firewater but they give a whole new meaning to shitfaced.
