“These massive and ever-increasing profits are coming from the pockets of grocery store workers who deserve a fair wage for their essential role in the company’s successful operations,” said Murray. Strike action can only begin if conciliation doesn’t produce a tentative agreement. If talks fail, union employees can vote on whether to strike.

“We are focused on reaching a competitive deal for our Sydney, N.S. teammates that reflects the market conditions in Cape Breton, not Ontario as Unifor has been advocating for,” she stated.
