NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh hammered in on the billions of dollars of lost tax revenue from corporations and billionaires today as he placed the blame on Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau's inaction.

At a campaign stop in Sudbury, Ont., Singh says one of his party's top priorities was raising taxes on the ultra-rich and closing the loopholes that have allowed corporations to avoid paying taxes in Canada.

He says that while Trudeau has talked about tackling these problems, he has not done enough about them. The NDP is promising to increase funding for the Canada Revenue Agency by $100 million to increase enforcement, though Trudeau has boosted the CRA budget by hundreds of millions while in office. Singh is also proposing to require corporations to prove their offshore dealings are legitimate, and publicly report on corporate taxes.

Trudeau said at a campaign stop on Montreal's South Shore that he has raised taxes on the wealthy, but that there needs to be a balance between taxes and economic growth.

Sure it all sounds good, but it’s never going to happen, I wasted my vote on the NDP for years, until I realized some of what you want with the liberals, is better than cuts and losing ground with the cons.

He will not get 60 billion dollars in wealth taxes that is a political fallacy and any corporate taxes change will take quite some time to implement will be challenged. He should be open about his own and his family ultra wealth

His ridiculous promises and constant need for social media attention should remind you of another loser...Trump. This isn't Jack Layton's NDP. Annd he will divide the vote to get minority or even worse a Conservative government. Be careful who you vote for

cerb cheats not a peep from this clown

False promises as the world has an agreement for corporations and the rich.and Canada has no control over it

This is the agenda of all Socialists, go after those who create businesses, jobs and strengthen the country economically. Why not go after the real culprits who use Canada as a money laundering haven? These crooks cost Canada billions annually along with terrorist financing

And full disclosure of Jagmeet Singh's (& family) personal wealth & tax returns will be provided?

This joke should just shut up!

Singh says lots of good, enticing things, but he seldom is able to say how exactly he is going to do it all, and I am not convinced that he actually knows how to. It’s one thing to say something, but it’s another to actually be able to actually be able to do it.

how about his tax cheats. 10 million dollars tip eh? i don’t think so look at his promotion for his followers since he is a King right!!!

AND WHAT? Put them in jail!? AND HOW AGAIN theJagmeetSingh ? Does it include powerful accountants, Te owner of massive, powerful accountin firms tat some of ur relatives might b usin to cover their track$ or even Te govt uses Te same company! U do Te “Accountin” cdnpoli Canada

Background noise. A non-factor

Why did theJagmeetSingh not make tax havens and/other tax changes part of supporting the many budgets and/or bills proposed in the house? BTW: I called out Tax havens for years. Where was Singh? 2021 - 2017 -

Good luck with that.

Ya and I have some underarm deodorant for snakes . Tax the rich and they just raise the prices and the poor have to pay more . No Thanks !

Hi theJagmeetSingh. Could you talk to John Horgan about the problem of lack of policing around hospitals?

he's not even allowed back in India for being a terrorist

NDP to release details on how it would pay for election platform pledgesNew Democrat Leader Jagmeet Singh is expected to announce details today on how the party would pay for its pledges ahead of the Sept. 20 election. Who cares, I have written them off..too little too late too conservative… Just do what the Liberals did this past year and the US has been doing since 2008. Get your central bank to print money out of thin air and then buy Federal government bonds. he didn't want to have it announced before debates or be questioned on it..while he has a big heart, hasn't displayed any leadership skills. If another crisis? He did say it would be expensive at the debate..he wants to give give give..reminds me of Bob Barker. Price is Right!
