Let’s be clear. No one was ever going to compare this incarnation favourably in any way to the iconic 1992 U.S. team, the first in Olympic history permitted to include pros. Not in buzzy names, nor in on-court prowess.

“No regrets at all,” said Curry, who instead is “playing golf, having fun with my family — that’s a personal thing … it just wasn’t the right thing for me, and the right time.” That said, the miserable defeat was a continuation of a rather disturbing recent trend for the U.S. men in international basketball, since 2019.
