The Nanaimo RCMP say a 52-year-old woman’s death earlier this year is now being investigated as a homicide.

Wendy Head died of a fatal overdose on March 7, 2023, at a home located in the 2300-block of Autumnwood Dr. Police say that since then, “significant information” has come out which suggests the woman’s death was a homicide. Officers with the Nanaimo RCMP serious crime unit are investigating the circumstances of her death, police said in a release Wednesday.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.“Investigators are convinced that there are individuals on Vancouver Island who may have information on this homicide that can further the investigation,” said reserve Const. Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
