Nanaimo RCMP is investigating a house fire that has been deemed suspicious after two people were seen running away from the area.

Nanaimo RCMP is investigating a house fire that has been deemed suspicious.RCMP said when officers arrived, fire crews were already on scene and the house was filled with smoke.Police said two people were in the home when the fire started and neither person was injured.

RCMP is following a tip that two unknown people were seen running away from the house shortly after the fire started.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.“This residence has been a source of concern for the neighborhood [sic] for some time due to illegal squatting and drug use,” said R/Const. Gary O’Brien.
