OSTA has planned for full loads and will readjust once school has started and loads are balanced.” The DriveYellow campaign has so far yielded 186 applications and 38 drivers hired or currently in training, OSTA said.
Where OC Transpo is an option, OSTA looks to transfer service from yellow school buses to OC Transpo and provides parents vouchers to ride the public buses with their child where needed, Hunter said.“Many parents were resourceful last year in arranging shared driving or neighbourhood pickup when buses were cancelled due to a staff shortage.”
