Special counsel Robert Mueller said Wednesday that charging U.S. President Donald Trump with a crime was 'not an option' because of federal rules, but he used his first public remarks on the Russia investigation to emphasize that he did not exonerate the president.

Published Wednesday, May 29, 2019 10:16AM EDTWASHINGTON -- Special counsel Robert Mueller said Wednesday that charging President Donald Trump with a crime was "not an option" because of federal rules, but he used his first public remarks on the Russia investigation to emphasize that he did not exonerate the president.

"Charging the president with a crime was therefore not an option we could consider," Mueller said during a televised statement . He said he believed such an action would be unconstitutional. "So beyond what I have said here today and what is contained in our written work," Mueller said, "I do not believe it is appropriate for me to speak further about the investigation or to comment on the actions of the Justice Department or Congress."

Nothing changes from the Mueller Report. There was insufficient evidence and therefore, in our Country, a person is innocent. The case is closed! Thank you. While claiming victory, the tone of the president's tweet was a far cry from the refrain of "total exoneration" that has dominated his declarations.

A long-standing Justice Department legal opinion "says the Constitution requires a process other than the criminal justice system to formally accuse a sitting president of wrongdoing," Mueller said. That would shift the next move, if any, to Congress, and the Democratic chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, which would investigate further or begin any impeachment effort, commented quickly.

And more importantly, no collusion.

Just slander. That is all he has after $40 million and three years...

He was also not found guilty. How’s Trudeau doing with SNC and the Mark Norman interference?

Get off your hatred of Trump. Where there is no crime found to be committed the person in question is innocent...thAts how the law works

Will the Canadian media, news & press be coving the SNCLavalin story ? Corruption in Canada is systemic. It’s difficult to get any news about this topic. Seems the Canadians only get news about realDonaldTrump, eh ?

Mueller was using intelligent words to describe his report, pity the Dems are smart enough to figure that out, he used an ingenious press conference to make the heads of the Dems explode

But the WH and Trump won’t and don’t ‘hear’ and accept this! Trump eventually believes his own lies and his staff and followers follow blindly. 🚶‍♂️

Impeachment is a great idea. Run Dems, RUN!

In America, though, if there is not evidence to convict then innocence is presumed. Trump is absolutely exonerated, Mueller was merely using clever semantics to goad Congress into impeaching because he is a partisan hack who should have ended the Russia investigation ages ago.
