More than half of Canadians oppose Oath of Allegiance to the Queen

A Leger poll for the Association of Canadian Studies found that 56 per cent of respondents did not agree with swearing allegiance to the Queen.

While 58 per cent of those who responded are positively disposed toward the Queen, with only 28 per cent negatively disposed, Canadians are evenly divided - 40 per cent positively and 40 per cent negatively - in their view of the monarchy overall. Sixty per cent of men and 52 per cent of women who did the survey answered no. Opposition was stronger among Canadians aged 18-34 than those over the age of 55.

Either swear you allegiance to Queen or find another place to live. Pretty simple, isn't? Canada's heritage and legacy is what they swear by, if that's an issue. More borders are open to migrate, please do so. Sooner the better.

Most Canadians oppose swearing an oath of allegiance to anyone except friends and family.

But can we swear at the Queen?

Some English Canadians need symbols of their distant foreign imposed monarchy to show that they are not totally Unitedstatesian. Above all, they do not want to show a difference with US by supporting Canadian bilingualism.

I do not think the monarchy serves any positive purpose.

If you are an instrument of the Government, as a public servant; how do you expect to uphold the duties enacted through legislative rule and delegated by the Crown? Do you think it is acceptable for trusted officials to interpret laws suited to their personal ambition?

What’s the point of this discussion? Any change to status of The Queen in Canada would require unanimous approval from the House, Senate, and all provincial legislatures. It’s a non starter.
