Halifax Mooseheads winger Jordan Dumais leads the QMJHL in scoring but will he be invited to try out for Canada's world junior team? - QMJHLWill Jordan Dumais be invited to the Canadian world junior team tryouts?

It's the question that seems to be on many hardcore major junior hockey fans' minds right now. And for good reason. The 18-year-old Halifax Mooseheads winger is on a season-long tear that has him first in the QMJHL in scoring with 54 points in just 25 games. The numbers are a tad ridiculous and feel like enough on their own to at least give him a shot to go to the December selection camp.

But for those who follow the world juniors year to year already know, statistics rarely tell more than part of a player's story when it comes to getting a chance to wear the maple leaf. The Hockey Canada staff scouts these kids extensively and weigh factors ranging from age to size to experience to NHL draft position. And fairly or not, Dumais has never been given a real look before. He's not big, he's on the young side for this tournament, has never represented Canada before and was a third-round pick. Based on Hockey Canada's usual criteria, he's a bit of a long shot.

But, again, is that fair to his body of work, not only this season but also going back to the final few months of the 2021-22 campaign when he was even hotter? Dumais put up 44 points in his final 18 games of the season to finish the year with 109 points. That production and the hot start this year were enough for the Columbus Blue Jackets, who signed him to a contract last week just four months after drafting him."To reach such a milestone in my career means a lot to my family and I.

Ottawa Sooners cheer squad disbanded after text exchange with football team ownerThe Sooners cheerleading team disbanded in the aftermath of an 'offensive' text exchange with the team's new owner and football coach So the owner says that cheerleading girls primary purpose is to dress in skimpy outfits and are there for the amusement of the primarily male spectators. And this made them upset? What else could be the purpose of jumping and dancing in skimpy outfits in front of male audience? Sounds like a great idea, we do not need cheerleaders at football games anymore. I think the owner was just really worried about something catastrophic happening with one of the cheerleaders and being financially responsible for that.
