Portuguese authorities said on Wednesday they had identified five cases of rare monkeypox infection and Spain's health services are testing eight potential cases after Britain put Europe on alert for the virus.

Thomson ReutersThis electron microscopic image depicted a monkeypox virion, obtained from a clinical sample associated with a 2003 prairie dog outbreak. European Health authorities are monitoring any outbreak of the disease since Britain reported its first case of monkeypox on May 7.The five Portuguese patients, out of 20 suspected cases, are all stable. They are all men and they all live in the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, the Portuguese health authorities said.

During an outbreak of monkeypox in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a young man shows his hands, which have the characteristic rash of monkeypox during the recuperative stage. The agency in Britain urged men who are gay and bisexual to be aware of any unusual rashes or lesions and to contact a sexual health service without delay.

Fall said that health officials still need a better understanding of how monkeypox spreads in general, even in the countries where it is endemic. The virus has typically spread to people from infected animals like rodents, although human-to-human transmission has been known to occur.Among people, the disease is spread when there is very close contact with lesions, body fluids, respiratory droplets or contaminated materials, like bedsheets.

Why does WHO keep trying to destroy its credibility because of a non-deadly, curable disease? Stop the pathetic spread of fear!

Stop the over-the-top hype about a disease that can be cure with antibiotics within a couple of weeks. Stop lying!!!!!

Europe accused of 'double-standard' on Ukrainian refugeesThe quick acceptance of Ukrainians fleeing Russia's aggression puts a spotlight on Europe's 'double standard' for migrants, standing against its nonwelcome for people fleeing violence in Africa, the Mideast and elsewhere, the head of the world's largest humanitarian network said Monday. Really poor taste to make this comparison. There isn’t just the humanitarian aspect at hand, but the development and stability of Europe’s future. Ukraine exports 10% of the worlds wheat(2x as much as U.S. with 1/10 of the population). L Haha Uh yea, that’s the point. Hierarchies are necessary.

Winning 'Block 2' design features public square, preserves heritage buildings | CBC NewsThe upcoming redesign of an entire block of buildings across Wellington Street from Parliament Hill would bring courtyards, atriums and a new public square to downtown Ottawa, while preserving heritage buildings. It looks bland, settler-institutional, Doric, not even Corinthian in architectonic style. They should have hired Douglas Cardinal. I was a domestic diplomat 4 la Francophonie, I had to explain High Gothic architecture 2 them. They laughed & stared 😱 at the Parliament.cdnpoli
