Mike McEwen's Manitoba-based team announced Thursday they'll be splitting up following the conclusion of the curling season.

The Manitoba-based club featuring skip McEwen, third Reid Carruthers, second Derek Samagalski and lead Colin Hodgson announced Thursday they’ve decided to split up following the conclusion of the curling season.“After four years together, Team McEwen has decided to part ways at the end of this season,” the team said in a statement. “We had some incredible wins and moments together and we wish each other nothing but the best in our future personal and curling endeavours.

McEwen, who has won seven Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling men’s titles, and Carruthers were longtime friends who linked up in 2018. Carruthers skipped the squad at first while tossing third stones with McEwen throwing last until they settled into traditional roles. They competed in the Brier all four seasons representing Manitoba in the 2019 and 2022 events and competing as a wild-card entry in 2020 and 2021.

Team McEwen will wrap up its season at the Princess Auto Players’ Championship, April 12-17, at Toronto’s Mattamy Athletic Centre.
