The fund would deliver about $375 million each year to TransLink, starting in 2028, and help complete planned projects and start new ones.

Six months before the federal election, Metro Vancouver’s mayors are calling on all parties to commit to setting up a permanent transportation fund that would see the region receive $375 million each year.

The idea, mayors say, is to have a consistent, predictable source of direct funding for transit projects in municipalities across the country, instead of project-based funding. The Mayors’ Council is joining communities across the country and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities in asking for the fund.
