A British Airways flight travelling to England from Jamaica remains in St. John's at this hour after being diverted due to a medical emergency on board early Thursday morning.

A British Airways flight was diverted to St. John's International Airport Thursday, Thursday, Feb. 2, due to an onboard medical emergency. - Rosie MullaleyST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A British Airways flight travelling to London-Gatwick from Kingston, Jamaica, was forced to make an unscheduled landing at St. John's International Airport Thursday morning.

The St. John’s International Airport Authority said the diversion was caused by a medical emergency onboard the flight. The incident occurred at 5 a.m. when the flight, BAW 2262, was diverted to St. John's for the safety of the passengers and crew. Due to crew time restrictions, the aircraft was unable to depart immediately from St. John's. All of the passengers and crew are being accommodated in the airport until the flight can resume.
