Raptors president Masai Ujiri says the team is “close” on an extension for general manager Bobby Webster.

Webster, 35, has been Raptors GM since June 2017 when he took over for Jeff Weltman, who left the organization to become the president of the Orlando Magic. In his time in the role, Webster has overseen the acquisition of Kawhi Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs, the team’s subsequent run to an NBA title and the signing of Pascal Siakam to a $130-million max contract, among others.

Ujiri’s update on Webster’s contract status comes two days after the team locked up 2019-20 coach of the year Nick Nurse to a multi-year extension.with MLSE but “will address it when it’s time to address it.” Ujiri has one more season remaining on his current contract.
