The MapleLeafs are looking to make Sheldon Keefe 'one of the AHL’s highest-paid coaches in history.'

According to Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos, it appears the organization and coach are in agreement on a new contract.

“It’s safe to say he would be one of the AHL’s highest-paid coaches in history but it’s a contract that wouldn’t keep him from getting a job in the National Hockey League should teams come knocking,” Kypreos said Saturday during the Headlines segment ofKeefe, 38, coached the Marlies to a Calder Cup in 2017-18. He joined the Marlies ahead of the 2015-16 season after two successful campaigns with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the OHL.
