Health Minister Sylvia Jones is directing the regulatory bodies for nurses and doctors to “make every effort … as expeditiously as possible” to accredit those trained in other countries.

this week issued a “critical care bed alert,” warning its intensive care units were “at capacity,” and Lakeridge Health has temporarily closed the ICU at its Bowmanville hospital and moved patients to campuses in Ajax-Pickering and Oshawa.

“If an employee’s referred candidate is hired, the employee will receive $1,000 upon completion of the new hire’s probationary period and an additional $1,000 upon the new hire’s one-year anniversary with Lakeridge Health,” spokesperson Julie Dowdie told the Star. She also requested reports from both regulatory colleges within two weeks detailing efforts on “how expeditiously applicants will be registered” to handle patients in Ontario.

Of those nurses accredited, 762 have been hired by hospitals after completing the “supervised practice experience program” launched by the province and college in January to speed up accreditations. Another 429 have been hired by nursing homes, the government said.

Try this, Ontario: Programs to speed up licencing of foreign-trained doctors. Programs are offered by 7 OTHER provinces; A route to licensure for international physicians who have already completed their residency and practiced independently abroad.

Interesting plan...my daughter is an RPN who wants to bridge to RN but 1. Is wait listed even though her marks are great and 2. Has to go back to school for 3 years when anyone else with any university degree can get 'fast tracked' in 18 mos. I guess she should be a new Candian.

Interesting plan when my daughter is an RPN who wants to bridge to and 1. Is wait listed even though her marks sre great and 2. Has to go back to school for THREE years when anyone else with any university degree can get 'fast tracked' in 18 months or she should be a new Candian?

How would I attract more people into the nursing and other hospital jobs. Thoughtfully I present a plan that transitions to a 32 hour workweek and a higher hourly rate or reduced income taxes.

We need to ask why repealing the bill is not part of “everything and the kitchen sink”.

maybe she could concentrate on taking better care of the local workers ...

How about faster pay increases?

SylviaJonesMPP fordnation You people disgust me. Truly. Karma

Ford gave himself & all his MP's a huge fat raise while his Bill 124 is suppressing nurse's wages. Nurses work hard, MP' DO NOT WORK AT ALL by the looks of it.

REPEAL Bill 124, wage-suppression legislation negatively impacting registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and health-care professionals. This Bill limits wage increases to a maximum of one per cent total compensation for three years.

Didn't they do this two years ago?

Oh so let me get this right now. Healthcare is provincial but, Ford and Sylvia call on the Feds and doctors and nurses 'regulatory bodies' to fix every g. damned bit of the crisis that FORD got us into dropping all Covid protections when we were short staffed in a pandemic.

Why make up this bald-faced fiction FactCheck the OntarioPCParty needs to look to other countries or train novices when you can cancel your RepealBill124 privatization crusade, + hire back all the great experienced Nurses HCW already here? fordnation SylviaJonesMPP ddale

why can't they just pay the ones we have here a reasonable amount, like they want?

She’s lying, and passing the buck as usual. onhealth onpoli ontariohealthcrisis pcpo FordFailedHealthcare FordfailedOntario

wasn't this already promised, like month ago?

This could've been started years ago. FordFailedHealthcare won't lift a finger unless he's pushed and shoved. Pathetic.

I guess you shouldn’t have fired those unwilling to be jabbed in The first place eh?

Just hire back the unvaxd that got canned. Done.

Rehire the 1000’s of health workers which were fired because of medically meritless and unconstitutional COVID jab mandates. fordnation JohnTory cdnpoli PS. Playing Trudeau’s footstools is costing lives.

Ontario directs regulator to register internationally trained nurses more quicklyOntario's health minister is giving the regulatory colleges for nurses and doctors two weeks to develop plans to more quickly register internationally educated professionals. how many weeks did she take before she did an interview ... just wondering OK..she allows us to get into a serious crisis by doing NOTHING for weeks-months, then gives a 2 week deadline to the colleges. Only in fordnation Ontario. Everyone wants more doctors and nurses, except for the colleges, like the CMA. There in charge and they like having shortages, drives up wages and work for them. And thats why the make it so hard to license foreign doctors and nurses. We must override them.
