Lobbying Commissioner Nancy Bélanger is pictured ahead of a December 2017 House Ethics Committee meeting. The committee has called for the Lobbying Act to do away with the 20 per cent rule for a decade, writes Duff Conacher.

The federal Lobbying Act and Lobbyists’ Code of Conduct, as well as federal ethics rules in the Conflict of Interest Act, MPs’ and Senators’ ethics codes, and public servants’ code continue to be a collective sad joke because of huge loopholes, fatal flaws, and weak, secretive enforcement by the ethics commissioner, lobbying commissioner, deputy ministers and the public sector integrity commissioner.Enjoy unlimited website access and the digital newspaper.

IStedman Trump and Trudeau are peas in a pod. The only difference is one has the parliamentary press gallery in his pocket. IStedman I disagree. JustinTrudeau continues to create consensus based on public interest, focusing lawmaking to create the foundation for implementation and appropriate enforcement of the rules. That is neither impeded by Mr Trump nor the pandemic. That is indeed ethical.

Dr. David Jacobs: Omicron has filled my hospital, but the panic from Delta is goneThe message is painfully clear. Omicron is a pandemic of the unvaccinated. Please get vaccinated Until most in your profession decide to treat these poor folks that you speak of with early treatments that work rather than send them home with nothing and they become too sick they have no choice but to go to a hospital, I will not be listening to anymore Twitter doctors.
