Non-profit group in Stratford staying dedicated to maintaining fragile environments

The technique is varied, with every site requiring different work, said Kaylee Busniuk, watershed co-ordinator for SAWIG. While the process works well in the short-term, over time it winds up shifting erosion downstream to unprotected areas. It also received a grant from the P.E.I. Climate Challenge fund. Both grants gave SAWIG a combined $14,000 to complete the shoreline projects.

Many Prince Edward Island communities have started asking about having living shorelines in their communities since the work began, she said.
