The long-term effects COVID-19 are still unknown. W5's Avery Haines investigates what happens to someone after spending weeks on a ventilator and beating the disease.

Julie Anne Cabuenas can be seen in her backyard in Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ont.BRADFORD WEST GWILLIMBURY, ONT. -- Julie Anne Cabuenas walks with a limp. Her left arm is weak and she struggles with memory loss.

"There's not a day that I don't ask my husband: 'Is this real? am I dreaming? I'm really alive? I'm here, right?'" she said. Little is known about the long-term effects COVID-19 may have on organs. And there is still a big question mark over the impact of heavily sedating patients for so long. Traditionally, patients are kept on ventilators for a number of days, but COVID-19 patients are being hooked up, while under powerful sedatives and paralytic drugs, for weeks.
