Lions skip practice to protest shooting of Jacob Blake - Sportsnet.ca

Lions coach Matt Patricia opened the team’s morning meeting by allowing players to share their thoughts on the shooting of Jacob Blake, who is paralyzed from the waist down. Blake was shot Sunday, three months after the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.

The players continued to discuss Blake’s shooting and shared their personal experiences regarding race in the locker room. Lions players and Patricia later filed out of the team’s practice facility, pushing a dry-erase board on wheels along the sidewalk to address the media. The words: "The world can’t go on," was written in blue on one side of the dry-erase board and "We won’t be silent!! One pride," was in black on the other side of the white board.

Patricia said he is proud of the players and hopes they inspire other people and teams in the NFL to take a stand for social justice.More from Sportsnet

Maybe they should all be holding signs like “Comply with Police”, “Don’t break the law”, “Stop resisting”, etc. Messages like that may actually save lives.

This is ridiculous. Facts dont matter in this wild new world we live in.

Why not wait for facts and stop making emotional judgments. I’m not saying what happened is right or wrong but it certainly is too soon to judge it accurately.

Now what? Can we get them to rebuild the cities?

How does a professional sports team protest something before all the facts are released what a bunch of idiots

Don't they get paid to be an athlete? Go join a peaceful protest.

Maybe stop with the empty gestures...can someone please explain how this will actually help...a bunch of millionaires not practicing will not save a single black life! Maybe go out into the community and interact with the youth or donate...
