Bernier wants to portray himself and his party as the only true conservative-leaning party in Canada — instead, the PPC has become home to fringe messages, anger and distrust. It’s not a party that will accomplish anything in Canadian politics beyond sowing fear, division and conspiracy theories. Unable to gain traction, he’s tried latching on to any issue he can, even ones he never cared about before like abortion or guns. The best story about Bernier’s hypocrisy, though, comes from 2011 when he was brought back into cabinet and named as Minister of State, Small Business and Tourism, and Agriculture.
