Liberal MPs are accusing a Conservative committee chair of overstepping his authority by unilaterally inviting Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe to discuss a scheduled increase to the federal carbon tax. After countless online protestations, Moe got his chance to pitch Liberal MPs face-to-face on why the government should cancel the April 1 hike to the price of carbon during an appearance before the House committee on operations and estimates on Wednesday.

Moe, along with the premiers of Alberta, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick, had originally requested to testify before the finance committee, but Peter Fonseca, the Liberal chair, did not call a meeting.
