With hundreds, if not thousands of rental apartment units in towers already approved or in the development pipeline, and waiting to be built, we need to ask…

However he neglects to mention an even more significant change, the idea that throughout large swaths of the city, towers up to 12 storeys would be allowed up to two blocks from an arterial. For example, under the Plan’s proposals, in the western areas of Kitsilano, 12 storey towers could occur all the way from Vine St. to Alma St. on every avenue from 2nd to 11th, even though many of those blocks are residential and not located beside existing clusters of stores.

The Vancouver Plan should be concentrating much more on ground oriented housing like townhouses and multiplexes that are so desperately needed by families to live in for the long term. Would it not have been more prudent to leave them in Oppenheimer Park in the first place and have washroom and shower trailers placed beside the park for their use? It would cost a fraction of the what they have paid to clean up two parks and now have this major eyesore on the city which is, quite frankly, a major embarrassment. We stand or sit very close to one another, and are unaware of anyone else’s vaccination status. COVID-19 isn’t done with us, and masks aren’t that hard to wear.
